PhD, Trainer and Researcher

Ruud Huyskamp, PhD, specializes in communications training and public engagement. He is a multilingual researcher, instructor, and trained historian. Educated in both the Netherlands and Canada, his career as an effective communicator and workshop facilitator has spanned the academic, not-for-profit, and private sectors.

He has done extensive qualitative and quantitative research on public engagement and communications. He has worked on numerous high-profile projects for Signal Influence Executive Research & Communications, Inc. (SIERC).

Ruud’s in-class experience began in an academic environment, having worked for over 7 years as a Teaching Assistant at both the University of Toronto and McMaster University. He has also worked as Learning Coach and Workshop Facilitator. Ruud is also an experienced Tutorial Instructor and Designer.

As an avid writer with over five years experience, Ruud co-trains with MLEK partners Lucy La Grassa and Laurence Mussio on clear writing, plain language and editing and proofreading courses.

Dr. Ruud Huyskamp holds a B.A. degree from the University of British Columbia and a M.A degree from McMaster University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Toronto, where he worked under the supervision of Canada Research Chair Dr. Jennifer L. Jenkins.
